2022 Season Recap

As the 2022 season comes to an end, let’s recap some notable races, finishes, and fleet events. The season largely kicked off with the San Diego NOOD’s. The fleet battled light and shifty conditions, with Chick Pyle’s Kea easily taking first place, Sailhook taking second, and Larry Smith’s PI taking third. The San Diego fleet is one of the largest and most competitive 36.7 fleets around. SDYC also hosted the Yachting Cup, which brought 36.7's from around the state, once again with Kea taking the win, Peter Cohran’s Rhode Rage taking second, and Thomas Shepherd’s Kraken taking third. With boats launching in the midwest, the Great Lakes fleet kicked off their season with the Chicago NOOD regatta. The conditions were mixed, and the fleet was large. 11 36.7’s in all. 2023 North Americans Announcement

The Lake Michigan Fleet is excited to host the 2023 Beneteau 36.7 North American Championship presented by Skyway Yacht Works and Columbia Yacht Club. This year’s event will take place Thursday September 7th through Sunday September 10th, and we look forward to welcoming our fellow Class Members too Chicago’s beautiful lakefront for some memorable racing. Our Regatta Committee has been working hard to plan a first class event-both on the water, and off. Columbia Yacht Club offers us the perfect venue for our event with the club’s fantastic downtown location, friendly staff, and legendary hospitality. Our presenting sponsor, Skyway Yacht Works, is supporting the Championship Regatta with full service yacht yard resources for teams, both local and visitors alike. This team, combined with typically beautiful early September sailing conditions in Chicago, promises a fantastic experience for all. With that, I’d like to formally invite you to come race with us. We are standing by to assist you in any way to help you, your teams, and your families enjoy everything that this event, and our city has to offer. Chicago - Mac Results

The 2023 Chicago Yacht Club race to Mackinac was one for the books. As Mac races go, the weather was tame and winds were generally light. This year's North American Championship Regatta was held in Chicago. Weather conditions ranged from dead calm, to strong winds, and from sunshine to full downpours. Port Huron - Mac Recap

The 2023 Bayview Mackinac Race was nothing short of spectacular, especially for the Beneteau 36.7 class. With a fleet of skilled sailors and resilient boats, this year's race showcased both competitive spirit and camaraderie on the open waters of Lake Huron. While the fleet was unable to compete in an official One Design class, there was still a highly competitive Beneteau 36.7 contingent. Greg Chamberlain and his crew aboard Huzzah emerged victorious, capturing first-place in the group (16th overall). 2024 North Americans

With great excitement, the Executive Committee proudly announces the 2024 North American Championship Regatta. The race will be held on July 25 - 27th at the Duncan Bay Boat Club in Cheboygan Michigan. The event's proximity to Mackinac Island along with the timing just after the 100th Bayview to Mackinac race will make boat delivery easier for many teams. Your Executive Committee is hard at work making sure this will be an event to remember.

2024 West Coast Championships

Welcome to the 2024 Beneteau 36.7 West Coast Championships at San Diego Yacht Club. The West Coast Champs have been featured annually at SDYC since 2004. This year’s competition will be held in conjunction with the Etchells Bill Bennett Cup, sailed in the Coronado Roads on March 16, 17. The regatta will be comprised of at least ten boats from Coronado, SDYC, Oceanside, Dana Point, Newport Beach, Long Beach and LA, with the possibility of boats chartered by members of the Chicago and Toronto fleets. The Beneteau 36.7 SoCal Fleet has a series of seven one-design high-point regattas annually and the West Coast Champs is the first regatta of the 2024 series.
